Artist Statement

I create sculptures and prints that are related to varied human relationships. I employ materials that are representative of human’s relationships with nature, with power, and with itself. The theorists Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell sparked my interest in the cycle of the Hero’s Journey and being able to recontextualize mythology by the study of the hero myth narrative that is closely observed with common archetypes and plots in a Hero’s Journey.  Throughout my work, I use mythological images and stories about creatures/monsters that allow me to play with an exaggerated interpretation of a false reality.
The materials I use for sculpture are varied and have included both natural materials such as wood and sticks as well as metal and industrial parts. I work very true and spatial with these materials.
